Join us for our monthly 350PDX Action Night, a monthly in-person gathering at our office where new and seasoned people interested in the climate justice movement gather to network, take action, and organize for the future!
6:00PM – 8:00PM – Food, drink, team tabling, and action stations
6:45PM – 7:15PM – Main programming: Community Organizer Training around City Council elections
This is a time for members of all our teams and other volunteers to come together to organize in a new way, around the four new Districts for the Portland city council.
Action nights between now and the fall will focus on organizing people according to Districts. This month, you’ll have the chance to meet others in your District, gain ideas for what you might want to do to bring climate justice into conversations around the city council elections in your District, and suggest plans and support that would be helpful between now and November. You’ll also have a chance to meet our two new employees, Denise Lopez (outreach and organizing manager) and Irene Hess (communications manager)!
We’re really excited to begin this new project and start building community with those in your part of the city! Our hope is to organize in our communities to create a grassroots Climate Justice Platform for candidates to support. Our focus is on City Council elections due to the rare and new opportunity to bring transformative change to Portland City government. Due to reforms in the 2022 elections, Portlanders voted in both ranked-choice voting and the 4 brand new City Council districts with 3 representatives per district, which allows candidates to be voted in with only a 25% majority.
We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday night. Invite your friends!
- Action stations – sign petitions, register for events/trainings, opt into our legislative session updates, sign up for election cycle door knocking, sign up to host a house party, and more!
- Team tabling – meet the staff and team leads – a great opportunity for newer folks to chat to us about our various teams and campaigns to start getting involved (Teams: Fossil Fuel Resistance, Forest Defense, Climate Justice Policy, Organizing, Arts, Creative, Climate Odyssey, Book Club. Neighborhood Teams: Brooklyn, Southwest, Washington County, etc.)
- Food and drink potluck – We’ll have a main dish and some beverages (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) and please feel free to bring other food and beverages to share!
- Learn about our year of action! – we’ve got a lot of actions planned at the local, statewide, and national level this year! Come out to flyer, learn, kayak, bike, and march with us!
- See the 350PDX office – check out our office, and pick up flyers, yard signs, posters, to put up in your neighborhood.
Bring a friend, bring a partner! Kids welcome but the space is the Rebuilding Center teaching workshop, and so has tools and sharp objects around.
3639 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, 97227. We are located in the Rebuilding Center offices. This is the building next door to the main Rebuilding Center store, on the same block but just north on Mississippi Ave. We have a red door that says 350PDX, directly opposite Stormbreaker Brewing and Black Book Guitars. The office is ADA accessible and has an ADA bathroom. Look for a 350PDX sandwich board outside the door!
There is a #4 bus stop nearby. The Yellow Max Line (Overlook Park stop) is about a 15-minute walk away.
