Before we ride, Dr. Vivek Shandas will give a brief talk about his groundbreaking research that makes clear how heat disparities in Portland flow directly from racial discrimination.

Our route will reveal differences in tree canopy by neighborhood, and we’ll also ride by one of the new “Trees In the Curb Zone Pilot Project” construction sites to see the creative way the city is planting trees in areas without parking strips.

We’ll end the ride at Laurelhurst Park where there will be a 350PDX Action Night! You’re welcome to join us for that as well! There will be refreshments, speakers, tables from partner organizations and actions we can take to support a more equitable urban forest.

This is a family friendly ride BUT if you don’t think your kids can keep up on their own, join via attached child seat or trailer. ❤️
