350PDX, Portland Harbor Community Coalition, Mosquito Fleet, and other partner groups are inviting Portland city council and mayoral candidates to a kayak tour of Portland Harbor on Saturday, September 21. There will also be an info session with speakers, tabling, and community members. Community members are welcome to attend the info session and tabling, and if you’re from an organization that wants to table, please sign up at registration. REGISTER HERE
SPACE IS LIMITED for the kayak tour, to ensure safety on the water. Therefore, only the first 40 candidates can sign up for the kayak tour, with kayaks and gear provided. If you are a candidate and want to participate, please register as soon as you can. There are two options:
- 10:00am–12:00pm: candidate kayak tour 1
- 11:30am: tabling (open to all)
- 12:00pm: info session (open to all)
- 1:00–3:00pm: candidate kayak tour 2
On the water, candidates will see parts of the Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub, the Portland Harbor Superfund Site, and other noteworthy aspects of the river relating to climate, recreation, infrastructure, ecosystem health, and public health. These topics will be discussed during the info session and organizations working on these issues will be present to share more about their work.
We will provide beverages and snacks. Everyone is invited to bring snacks to share, and feel free to bring a lunch if you need something more substantial.
