Doug graduated in a recession and wound up on top of a wrecking ball on the Alaskan coast. A crane lowered him into a hole 70 feet beneath the beach. Doug built infrastructure for big oil pipelines. “I graduated as an economist, but carpentry work was better because it wasn’t as depressing.” Doug now leads the Cathedral Park Neighborhood Association, which has its own blog (some of the posts are so lovely they might have been written by Shel Silverstein). Dangerous Propane Terminal Proposal Headed for City Council

The hearing for Pembina Corporation’s proposed $500 million propane export facility in Portland took place April 7th, 2015. Its fate is not yet decided, but we’ll need every voice to sway the City Council members, and soon. Action steps you can take now are listed below!

At the end of a marathon six-hour public hearing, the City of Portland Planning and Sustainability Commission approved a code amendment that paves the way for a proposed propane export terminal on the Columbia River.

But we still have a shot at stopping this short-sighted project.

Please speak out against the proposed Pembina Propane Terminal next Tuesday, January 13. Portland has a national reputation for sustainable energy leadership–don’t let a Canadian-owned fossil fuel terminal tarnish our image.
