Oregon Climate Declaration
The Oregon Climate Declaration:
Are you one of 100,000 Oregonians making a difference?
We have big plans to connect 100,000 Oregonians around global warming by the end of 2015. Yes, we know this sounds ambitious, but it’s what’s needed and, even better, all 100,000 of us are here and ready to go- we just need to be connected.
A Yale University study shows that 29% are very concerned about global warming, and another 16% know that we have a climate criss on our hands. 45% translates to way more than 100,000 Oregonians.
We need all of us to be visible, and the Oregon Climate Declaration can do that for us. We can make our voices heard and increase our political power in this state, which is essential to be able to demand the changes in public policy necessary to avoid the worst effects of global warming.
For example, 100,000 of us together would give us the ability to pursue a climate-focused ballot measure for 2016, which can have an effect on the presidential campaign that could, without that kind of pressure, once again ignore climate change.
