Join us on Sunday, June 11th from 11am to 4pm to Paddle Zenith Out of Portland! Portland is joining a nationwide mass mobilization to demand an end to fossil fuels here in our community and across the country. On June 11, we will mobilize in a land & water event to:

  • Demand Portland City Council rescind their approval of Zenith’s dangerous oil trains
  • Turn up the heat on President Biden, calling on him to use his executive powers to declare a climate emergency
  • Call for an end to the era of fossil fuels!

Paddle Zenith Out of Portland: a Land & Water Rally to End the Era of Fossil Fuels

Sunday, June 11 from 11am – 4pm
Cathedral Park (6635 N Baltimore Ave.)
RSVP here, and share on Facebook here

Our local and national leaders have promised us they would address the climate crisis. But President Biden has approved more lease sales for new oil and gas drilling on federal lands and waters than Trump. And his administration has approved new oil and gas projects, like the Willow oil drilling project in Alaska and multiple oil and gas export terminals in the Gulf.

Here locally, the Portland City Council has made similar promises that have fallen short. Last fall, City Council approved fossil fuel company Zenith Energy’s request to continue transporting crude oil through Portland neighborhoods – going behind the backs of neighborhood associations, Multnomah County, state legislators, and environmental and community organizations.

We are tired of broken promises from leaders who are supposed to protect our climate and our community’s public health and safety. Frontline communities and global scientists have been abundantly clear – we cannot avoid the very worst impacts of the climate crisis if we allow for any more fossil development. Political leaders know this, yet they choose to side with fossil fuel companies time and again. We say ENOUGH. It’s time to End the Era of Fossil Fuels.

To turn up the heat on Portland City Council, Zenith Energy, and President Biden, our region is mobilizing to Paddle Zenith Our of Portland. We’d love for you to join us!

350PDX is partnering with the Mosquito Fleet for a fun, powerful, vibrant, and family-friendly land and water rally on Sunday, June 11. We’ll have boats available for folks (but if you have any kind of watercraft, we encourage you to bring it!), and together we’ll demonstrate our people power and determination to Stop Zenith! There will be a brass band, lunch, kayaktivism trainings, speakers, screen printing and art builds, and much more. Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 11 and RSVP today to get more info and stay in the loop.

The Pacific Northwest has demonstrated our people powered climate movement before—on land and on water!— and it’s time to do it again. We know with enough people, we can demonstrate that our collective power is more influential than the backdoor influence from fossil fuel companies.

Trust us—this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Let’s do this,

Dineen O’Rourke, 350PDX Campaign Manager, and
Eloise Navarro, 350PDX National Fossil Fuels Organizer

P.S – Thank you to everyone who came out to the Willam-Jam Benefit Concert for the Mosquito Fleet last week! The event was a huge success and now we’re ready for a big summer of action. We hope you’ll be a part of it with us!
