Position: Videographer

Time Commitment: Flexible schedule, 1 video every 2 months

Description:

We need a handful of videographers to attend 350PDX events and actions and take video footage, process/edit, and upload to our website and social media. Bonus points if you are good at revealing the ‘message’ or story of the event that effectively connects it to the larger movement or cleanly documents the situation, and are willing to collaborate to collectively develop this. You need your own equipment and editing software, and be willing to learn WordPress and Facebook if you don’t already know your way around. If you can make it to Communications meetings every other Thurs 5:30-7:30p, that would be ideal. Position: Grant Writer

Time Commitment: Avg 10 hours per month, usually in a condensed period

Description:

Help us fund the dismantling of the fossil fuel system! We are looking for experienced grant writers to help our Executive Director and the Development Committee keep up with grant applications. Do you have experience writing grants, and can reliably be called on to assist with approximately one grant applications per month? Position: Audio Recorders

Time Commitment: Flexible schedule, 1 project every month

Description:

We need a handful of people to attend 350PDX events and actions and take audio footage, process/edit, and upload to our website and social media. You do not need your own equipment and editing software, but bonus points if you already have a set-up! Be willing to learn WordPress and Facebook if you don’t already know your way around. Position: Attorney with Non-Profit Experience

Time Commitment: Variable

Description:

Provide legal advice to 350PDX board and staff when questions arise, such as how changes to non-profit employer regulation affect 350PDX, or whether engaging in particular events violates non-profit limits to endorsing political candidates. Position: Outreach Team Members

Time Commitment: Variable hours, plus Outreach Team Meeting every other Thurs 5:30-7:30p (not required)

Description:

You love motivating people to step up their involvement in the climate movement and join 350PDX or sign a petition on the spot. Outreach volunteers opt in to table at our events and community events, flier and collect petition signatures at public events, speak about 350PDX to another group you are part of (PTA, faith org, office), data entry, make copies of outreach materials, and more. Position: Volunteer Recruiter

Time Commitment: 2 hours per week

Description:

Post volunteer or internship opportunities on volunteer boards, email lists, or community calendars. Requires someone who is creative about finding ways to increase the visibility of these opportunities, and is self-directed so will keep track of where things have been posted and manage the list of places to post. Skills/Experience needed: Computer and community connection savvy, good organizational skills


Position: Monthly Digest-er

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours once a month

Description:

Help us build a more cohesive action network! You will send a monthly update to active members of 350PDX about what’s happening across the organization. This involves reading through the meeting notes of the various neighborhood and campaign teams (tracking them down in email or in google drive), checking in with staff about action opportunities from the office, and gathering volunteering needs from a few of these places as well. Then formatting it into an email or document, and sending it out the same time each month. This task needs someone who is organized and can keep track of the people and teams to pull updates from, pays attention to detail, and is comfortable formatting text in basic digital software platforms (email, Word, basic html). Work will mostly happen remotely, with occasional in-person meetings to learn our software and say hi. Skills/Experience needed: Narrative crafting, good communication skills, basic HTML / Word processing and formatting


Position: Coalitions Tracker

Time Commitment: 4 hours per week to start, then less

Description:

Keep an up-to-date list of the coalitions organizations, help with reminders about events from each of these coalitions, and write text for the website about 350PDX’s connections. At the beginning, this will involve setting up times to chat with a few people across the organization who work in coalitions, and then will involve only a small level of upkeep. Please commit to a 3-month slot the info you collect won’t have to be relayed to another person right at the beginning. Position: Press Contacts Manager

Time Commitment: 4 hours to start, then 1 hour every 2 weeks

Description:

Update and organize our press contacts list. To start, this will be working closely with Mia and then will involve intermittent work to maintain the list. Involves looking up media contacts and making changes to an online spreadsheet. Contact Mia mia [at] 350pdx [dot] org.

Position: Divestment Press Advisor

Time Commitment: Variable time commitment

Description:

Do you have experience writing press releases, or getting media attention? The Divestment from Fossil Fuels campaigns keep winning and could use increase media. This is a critical role since translating our work into shifting public and political action often requires going through the mainstream media. This person would stay up-to-date with the Divestment campaigns either by attending one or two evening meetings per month, or work out another way to stay current. Press releases have a loose schedule, and are timed with a week to a day or two’s notice, and would ideally accept a handful of press releases a year. Position: Activist Bootcamp Trainer Liaison

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week

Description:

Work with a small group putting on the Activist Bootcamp training series by helping follow up with the people whom will be teaching the workshops, making sure their schedules and needs are accommodating, and following up with any changes.

Skills/Experience needed: Organization and people-wrangling


Position: Development Committee Members

Time Commitment: 2-10 hours per week

Description:

The DC works to raise money for 350PDX through multiple revenue streams. We are recruiting a few new Development Committee members to help out in any of the following areas:

  • Planning fun benefit events
  • Grassroots fundraising
  • Grant and proposal writing
  • Data entry, data management
  • Meeting 1 on 1 with potential individual and business supporters
  • Thanking supporters
  • Organizing/overseeing any of the above

As you can see, working with the DC is about much more than asking for money! Formal fundraising experience is NOT required though it’s a huge plus. But we are looking for people with some solid skills, and the time and commitment to put them to work.
This work is so gratifying because you can see how you are helping the organization grow and be more effective! If you can gain valuable non-profit development skills. Or, if you are experienced, share your knowledge with an organization that is just getting off the ground.
We meet two times per month. A regular meeting day/time has not been chosen yet. The time commitment is scalable between 2 to 10+ hours per week, but must be dependable.
