350PDX interacts with over 7,000 people on a weekly basis through online and in person communication and outreach. The goals of the Communications and Outreach efforts are to increase the visibility of 350PDX, its campaigns, and the volunteer opportunities members of the public have to get involved in fighting climate change.
In addition to our campaign work, we currently have a Communications and Outreach Team that develops materials and provides media coverage of events. We also have 6 neighborhood organizing teams (N, NW, NE, SW, SE Portland, and Hillsboro) that meet monthly in their respective neighborhoods to advance the work of the organization. The Intern will work with these teams to implement plans and outreach efforts during and beyond the duration of the internship.
The Communications and Outreach Intern (Intern) will work closely with the Community Organizer (Supervisor). The Intern will support the Communications and Outreach efforts, and occasionally support the Supervisor in other work.
This is a position of 20 hrs per week. The position starts June 5th, 2017 and ends August 18th, 2017, with some flexibility. At least half of each week will be spent at the 350PDX office. Changes to this plan are to be agreed upon in advance between the Intern and the supervisor. The Intern is expected to attend a weekly check-in and a bi-weekly Communications Team meeting (Thurs 5:30-7:30p).
