North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection would appreciate your sharing and publicizing this announcement for one of our upcoming NCCWP speaker events. On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 6:00 -7:30 p.m., NCCWP invites you to see and hear expert hydrologist Younes Alila via Zoom. Professor Alila is on the faculty of the Forest Resources Management Department at the University of British Columbia. In his presentation, Forests and Water: New Science for a Changing Climate, Professor Alila will discuss how logging and other forest practices affect hydrology and impact drinking water supplies. Learn about the direct impact logging has on climate-related extremes such as floods, droughts, and wildfires, as well as landslides.
This event is hosted by North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection in collaboration with the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition, the Lower Nehalem Community Trust, and the Peachland Watershed Protection Alliance (Peachland, B.C.). Dr. Alila’s talk will conclude with a question-and-answer period moderated by Dr. Jacqueline Stoeckler of the West Kootenay Watershed Collaborative. Register here: https://bit.ly/NCCWP_
