Over the past year, the Portland Metro People’s Coalition has been meeting with dozens of organizers from over 35 groups in the Portland metro area to build a broad, inclusive and visionary Bill of Rights to guide our collective work. Under each right, some of these groups have contributed their priority policy proposals: Actionable demands that each group has been working on and intends to actively organize around in the next year or so.
At the Convention, Participating Groups will ratify the Bill of Rights to establish our vision for a sustainable, healthy and welcoming community for everyone who lives here without exception. We will also pass the 2018 Policy Platform to foster the democratization of power and resources, especially toward marginalized communities. Finally, we will discuss and build a framework for collaboration to strengthen our grassroots power moving forward.
Participating Groups: 350PDX, AFSCME Local 88, Alliance for Democracy, BerniePDX, Climate Action Coalition, Don’t Shoot PDX, Jobs with Justice, Main Street Alliance, Milenio, Municipal Broadband PDX, Oregon Fair Trade Campaign, OPAL: Environmental Justice Oregon, Portland Association of Teachers Social Justice Outreach Committee, Portland Chapter of Democratic Socialists of America, Portland Forward, Portland Harbor Community Coalition, Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition, Portland Tenants United, Sisters of the Road, Stop Fracked Gas PDX, Sustainability and Justice Emerging Series
