PJET Just Transition Training

July 5, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

- free

Fighting climate change requires transitioning from one system to another. But how do we make sure this transition will provide opportunities for workers now dependent on the extractive fossil fuel economy, or will rectify ongoing environmental injustice?

The Portland Just Energy Transition Initiative provides an opportunity to significantly improve climate and racial justice work in Portland. This initiative would fund the rapid expansion of solarization and weatherization in Portland, with a focus on job creation and inclusion for communities of color, workers, and others too often left out of planning and leading the clean energy economy. Our training will provide details on the initiative as well as provide an opportunity to get your questions answered. This training is the first to educate and motivate community members to help us enact this measure.

The first hour will contain a “climate justice 101” training and information regarding the PJET campaign, and the last half hour will be a Q&A and information for how to participants can talk with their friends, neighbors and other community members and encourage their support.

Join us on July 5th, 7:00-8:30 PM where Portland NAACP President Jo Ann Hardesty will lead the evening’s discussion and training on how you can get involved in the important work that lies ahead.
