Join Boom Arts and 350PDX for an Open Mic and Potluck for people in the climate justice movement! Forms of creative story-telling – from songs to visual art to plays and poetry – have always been part of movements. Story-telling helps ground us in our values: why we take action for climate and racial justice and the health of our communities. Story-telling helps us connect to each other, take action in community, and empower each other to fight for social change.
On May 17th, Boom Arts and 350PDX are hosting an open mic for folks in the Portland climate justice community to come together and share stories of self, us, and now — or whatever brings you joy! Come share a song, a poem, or whatever you’d like. Or just come and chat with other folks in the movement, form connections, and generally have a good time.
WHEN: Tuesday, May 17th at 7pm
WHERE: the Rebuilding Center/350PDX offices (3625 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, 97227)
WHAT: This is meant to be a low-pressure community-building event with an open mic (yes, open to everyone, although bonus points if you share something related to climate action) This is also a food and drink potluck – we’ll be providing some food, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, but bring your own to share too!

WHO: anyone with a song/story/poem/puppet show to share (or really whatever you’d like!) or who just wants to hang out with other folks who care about climate justice.
COVID: this will be a masked indoor event, but with eating and drinking so masks will coming on and off. The room is large and has windows to the outdoors, but there may be lots of people fairly close to each other, so it us up to each of our own risk levels to come. It will be required for you to be vaccinated or to have had a negative COVID test within the last 72 hours? Please bring proof of either along with you!
More info on location: The event will be at 3625 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, 97227. We are located in the Rebuilding Center offices. This is the building next door to the main Rebuilding Center store, on the same block but just north on Mississippi Ave. We have a red door that says 350PDX, directly opposite Stormbreaker Brewing and Black Book Guitars. This map link shows the location of the entrance. The office is ADA accessible and has an ADA bathroom. There is a #4 bus stop nearby. The Yellow Max Line (Overlook Park stop) is about a 15-minute walk away.
