New team: just transition to clean energy

November 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

We’re starting a new team with a focus on a just transition to clean energy! This team combines the former Fossil Fuel Resistance Team and Climate Justice Policy Team.

** We meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 6:00 – 7:30pm.

  • 2nd Tuesdays: in-person
  • 4th Tuesdays: virtual

Please email cherice@350pdx.org or dineen@350pdx.org to join the team and for current meeting details! **

In order to fight the climate crisis, it is necessary to keep the remaining fossil fuel (coal, oil, gas) reserves in the ground and create a clear pathway towards a just transition that protects communities on the frontlines of dirty energy extraction.

We need to both FIGHT new and existing fossil fuel infrastructure and BUILD alternatives so we can transition off polluting fuels in a way that’s affordable and good for the planet.

We have many active campaigns right now and would love for you to join us! Here’s a glimpse of some of the projects we’re currently working on. Together with our partners, we’ve won against big fossil fuel giant corporations before, and we are committed to continue to defeat them!

  • Zenith Energy: oppose the new franchise agreement as Zenith is trying to sell their Portland property to a new polluting company
  • Drawdown at the CEI Hub: support a Critical Energy Infrastructure Hub Policy Project that phases out fossil fuels stored at the hub, drawing down storage of these dangerous and polluting fuels right next to the river
  • Climate & Health Standards for Existing Buildings: reducing emissions in large buildings in Portland through energy efficiency and switching away from natural gas
  • PCEF: protecting the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund, keeping it focused on reducing climate impact and providing community benefit, keeping it from being diverted to other uses
  • Transportation: advocating for transportation infrastructure that prioritizes pedestrians, bikes, and low- or zero-emissions transportation, supporting better public transit options and funding
