Climate-Jobs PDX will make a presentation and facilitate a discussion about why workers and unions need to take climate change seriously. The presentation will examine the dangers facing working people, especially low income people and people of color, from a lack of action to combat climate change. The presentation will highlight how labor unions could benefit from taking on a robust fight for a just transition program that shifts economic activity towards a more sustainable path while protecting labor rights and well being, as well as explore the challenges of taking on such a campaign. The presentation will also look at promising efforts to advance this transition, including the work of Climate-Jobs PDX.
