Two years ago City Council voted to pass a historic measure limiting the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure. It survived multiple court challenges, and now goes back to the Council for some minor tweaks before it can go into effect.
The first session (November 20th) will be an opportunity for us (and the fossil fuel industry) to testify and show our power.
Be part of this event! City Hall, Wednesday, November 20th, 2-5 PM, Wear Red.
The second session is planned for December 18th, when Council will vote. We need a sea of red for both sessions, so mark your calendar for that one too.
For inspiration, watch the video of the original passage here. (We’ll have streamers for this Wednesday’s meeting, too).
For more history and talking points, see this document from Elijah Cetas of the Center for a Sustainable Economy.
Youth, health professionals, some folks involved in the original passage, and others will be giving testimony.
If you feel strongly about testifying, that is great.
We want to be sure all testimony is completed this session, so you may want to hand in written testimony instead.
