We’re excited to announce that 350PDX is hiring for two positions  a Policy Manager and an Outreach & Events Manager. Both positions are full time (30 hours/week), and part of the 350PDX Staff Collective. You can learn more about the positions and apply here — priority deadline March 1, 2023.

We are hiring for these positions in part because sadly, Indi Namkoong and Emily Krafft have decided to leave the Staff Collective. So on that note, we wanted to take this opportunity to extend our deepest appreciation to them both, and to wish them well on their next steps.

Emily was our Development Manager since April of 2022, but before being on staff she had been a 350PDX volunteer, including as a Fossil Fuel Resistance Team Co-Coordinator from 2017 to 2020, and as a City/County Watchdog Team member. She has given so much to the 350PDX community and the climate justice movement as a whole, and we will surely miss having her in the collective.

Indi was our Coalition Manager since 2020, and was instrumental in expanding our coalition work. Indi’s work included: representing 350PDX within frontline-led coalition spaces, bottom-lining rapid response communications for the Portland Clean Energy Fund Coalition, working with partners on the successful 2021 Oregon Clean Energy Opportunity campaign and the ongoing Portland City Charter Reform process, and more.

While we are sad to see Indi and Emily leave the staff team, we are excited to see all the places they end up next – and we are confident that wherever they are they will continue to bring passion, thoughtfulness, and dedication to their work.

In gratitude,

The 350PDX Staff Team

P.S.  Here’s a message from Indi to the 350PDX community:

Happy new year! As many of you may know (and many of you may not), I ended my time on staff at 350PDX at the very end of 2022. It was a bittersweet transition; my years as your Coalition Manager were formative in the way I understand the climate justice movement and my place in it. That sense of direction also helped me see the right time to take the next steps on my way forward. I’m pleased to say I didn’t have to go too far: I rang in 2023 as the new Transportation Justice Coordinator at Verde! I’m looking forward to more chances to work with 350PDX as a valued ally and to cheer you on in your future campaigns.

When I think of 350PDX, I feel so much pride and gratitude for all of the work we were able to do together. We passed legislation that set Oregon on a faster track to clean energy than any other state while ensuring that this transition will bring real and lasting benefits to communities on the front lines of the climate crisis. We overturned 100 years of outdated precedent by winning a new City Charter, opening new doors for BIPOC, low-income, and other climate-impacted Portlanders to see themselves and their priorities represented in our governance. We fended off corporate attacks on the Portland Clean Energy Fund, which has rolled out close to $150 million in grants for projects that promote climate resilience, clean energy, and environmental wealth in low-income communities of color to date. We Zoomed, met in tiny backyards and giant workshops, knocked on our neighbor’s doors in the rain, and did 1000 other things I’m probably forgetting.

Thank you all for sharing your time, your energy, and your passion with me over the last few years; it’s been an honor to grow with you. I’m excited to discover all of the different places our paths will cross in the future. See you over the next hill!

With love and solidarity,

Indi Namkoong
