Candidate statement:

I have endorsed the full 350 PDX Climate Justice Platform.
Every summer it gets hotter, every winter is colder, and wildfire smoke turns our sky orange. Working class families are trapped in unairconditioned apartments while wealthier neighborhoods stay cool, green, and comfortable. This is what climate injustice looks like.
In my first term I have fought to protect PCEF and not siphoned into the pockets of billionaire arena owners. I also defended our frontline neighborhoods from fossil fuel harm. I co-sponsored the resolution demanding the Mayor investigate Zenith’s Energy’s franchise agreement violations, and I will keep pushing to phase out volatile fuel storage at the CEI hub. I stood with thousands of Portlanders to reject the PGE transmission project that would have clearcut 370 trees in Forest Park. I used my position as co-chair of the climate committee to explore fossil fuel greenwashing by renewable fuels companies. I will continue to ensure the public has accurate information about the fossil fuel industry and the harm they cause. In my next term I will continue to:

Push a real CEI hub drawdown timeline and an end to oil trains running through our city. I will defer to advocates for what the right timeline for a fuel drawdown is, but the first proposal was not aggressive enough.

Defend PCEF from being raided and keep it focused on climate justice priorities.
Champion shade equity by getting trees planted in the neighborhoods with the fewest.
Build a clean energy workforce pipeline through union apprenticeships and local hire.
I will do everything in my power to make sure that giant corporations can no longer game our system to keep expanding fuel storage terminals.
