Joseph (Joe) Alfone — Candidate for City Council, District 4

Candidate statement:

Having lived in Asia and internationally for 10 years I believe that I can effectively implement ideas that I have seen in Tokyo, Beijing, Denver, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Hong Kong Shanghai, Osaka Seattle Valetta, Malta Eureka Springs Austin San Francisco New Orleans to name but a few of the many places I have lived and or visted that have infrastructure and community projects and programs that make their cities run more effectively. For example, the Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo is a tourist attraction, people crossing in multiple directions, its fun its a tourist attraction it is effective, thus blinking lights such as those on 8th Ave and Burnside will be far more prevalent throughout the city. This in tandem with the Frog Ferry which will bring river place and cathedral park affordable business and leisure economic revenue an art and graffiti art district with tax incentives to businesses to give jobs to graffit and art mural artists to bring life fun edge to a city in need of pedestrian traffic and business, and rooftop observation decks on skyscrapers, with Nature sounds on speakers throughout downtown and marijuana lobby cafes which have proven quite successful in Vancouver Canada, Las Vegas and historically Amsterdam. Essentially bringing the city camaraderie and community and vibe all of which are the ultime deterrents to crime, homelessness, and drug addiction.

Will you ensure the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) remains climate-focused in line with what voters intended?
