Candidate statement:
Clawing back PGE is a top priority. We must lower rates, while investing in cost saving measures like undergrounding power lines. The cost of keeping a small standing army to repair decayed power poles costs a fortune, not to mention the insane cost of hiring tree trimmers to keep the lines safe from falling trees. Look, we have to stop this wind and solar madness. It offers no baseload capacity. Solar blades are terrible for the environment as are solar panels that cannot be recycled. Lithium is just an awful way to store large amounts of power and the cost is outrageous. It takes a lot of carbon to get the Lithium to market while destroying the environment in the process. Cobalt mines are an affront on civilization. Nuclear is clearly the way forward. 1000 megawatts would solve Oregon’s power needs for quite some time, let alone 1,500 or 2,000. The rest of the power could be sold off. No more dirty coal and year round power day, or night, sunny, or cloudy. We need vision, imagination and most crucial of all, leadership.
Will you ensure the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) remains climate-focused in line with what voters intended?
