Thank you.

I wrote an email to the 350PDX community about two months ago with some grim news: 350PDX was in a financial crisis, and if we didn’t hit our fundraising goal of $150,000 by August 1, we would have to make hard choices about the future of the organization.

Today is August 1. We did it. We not only met, but exceeded, our goal: this community came together and raised over $200,000 to save 350PDX. Hundreds of you chipped in to help us reach that extraordinary number. It’s been nothing short of incredible to see these gifts–and the encouraging testimonials behind them–pour in over the last three months from: long-time supporters who have been part of this community for years, people who only just learned about 350PDX but resonated enough with our mission to chip in, lifelong Portland-area residents, and folks who offered support from far away.

Something I’ve been saying a lot this summer is that the most special thing about 350PDX is our community. This has always been a grassroots, volunteer-driven movement with a long history of punching above our weight. Everything 350PDX has ever accomplished – from fighting to stop Zenith Energy’s dirty, dangerous storage of oil on the banks of the Willamette River to tirelessly advocating for shade equity in Portland’s most vulnerable neighborhoods to pushing state and local policymakers to support climate justice and clean energy goals, and so much more – is because of our people power. Because of you.

Achieving this fundraising goal means that 350PDX will be able to keep on our small team of incredible staff, continue to host Action Nights and other community events, and ramp up our campaign work to ensure a stable climate and just future for all of us. And after a well-deserved August break, we’re fired up to dive into deep and thoughtful planning about how to keep up this momentum and ensure that we can keep growing our movement for years to come. We’ll be celebrating this huge success and collectively planning for the future of 350PDX at our September Action Night, and we’d love for you to join us:

September Action Night: Community Appreciation Party!
Thursday, September 18, 6-8 PM
Mt Tabor Park, Picnic Area B

Thank you again for your support. Thank you for being a part of this movement. Thank you for believing in us. We have so much to fight for, and so much to win. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

In love and solidarity,

Devyn Powell
President, 350PDX Board of Directors
