350PDX Weekly Update – See you next decade – Dec 18 2019
Hi everyone,
Well, the decade is almost over. My next weekly update will be in 2020. I hope you all have a peaceful rest over this winter break, because next year is going to be big for our planet and everyone on it.
I feel incredibly hopeful. 2019 has been a year of transitions for 350PDX, but through it we’ve achieved so much. We’re going into 2020 with a excellent and stable staff collective, a growing volunteer base, new teams, new coalitions, new ideas, and with all that we’re going to achieve remarkable things together. Thank you to every one of you who volunteered, donated, signed a petition, showed up to an event, or engaged in any way with the climate justice movement. We couldn’t do this without you.
Here’s your 350PDX weekly update!

Letters to the Editor
Our very own Donna (Arts Team lead) got her excellent letter published in the Oregonian recently, which is a good reminder that letters to the editor play a critical role in keeping climate change in the media agenda, and raising awareness of ongoing (and under-reported) campaigns. With just 50-200 words, we can reach and influence thousands of local citizens. It’s a super easy thing to do from home and however often you like. We have some tips on our website here so take a look and if writing is your passion, or you’re a regular newspaper reader, send in your letters and get your voice heard!

Website calendar back online
After identifying that our calendar was causing our website to breakdown we had to rebuild it from scratch. More updates to come but our website calendar is now functioning again!

Rebels for Life: A weekend of art, music and coalition building
Sat Dec 21 – Sun Dec 22, 1:00PM – 6:00PM @ Lloyd Center Mall, entrance on 11th and Multnomah
This coming weekend, a handful of groups including Extinction Rebellion are holding a space for folks to come together for music, art and coalition building. Conscious Growth, an amazing nonprofit, has leased an empty retail space on the ground floor (entrance on 11th and Multnomah) inside the mall near the old Nordstrom. Together with activist banners and art from local artists, the place has been transformed into a beautiful gathering space. We invite you to join us for music, juggling, and art builds with the intention of inviting community in to participate, learn more about and get involved in local climate issues.
