350PDX Development Manager/Fundraising Specialist Position
350PDX’s mission is building a diverse grassroots movement to address the causes of climate disruption through justice-based solutions by inspiring, training and mobilizing people to act. We are a relatively young, dynamic volunteer-driven grassroots non-profit organization with thousands of supporters that regularly engages hundreds of people to volunteer and take action. 350PDX is a rapidly expanding organization with a small staff that enjoy a friendly and flexible work environment and opportunities for professional training and development.
Now in a period of growth, 350PDX seeks a Development Manager to support 350PDX’s mission by overseeing our fundraising operations. The Development Manager will work in concert with our Development Committee as well as other volunteers and staff in order to increase 350PDX’s financial sustainability through donor cultivation and retention, business partnerships and events. The Manager will also oversee the organization’s grants administration and other activities that contribute to the financial viability and overall sustainability of the organization.
Job Type 0.75 FTE – 1.0 FTE with flexible work schedule. Compensation commensurate with experience.
The Development Manager will:
Support the Executive Director and Board of Directors in creating and implementing an organizational development plan with goals, strategies and action steps to secure funding from various sources aligned with 350PDX mission and values
Establish a major donor program and manage portfolio of major donors and prospects
Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual, business and foundation partners
Support the Executive Director with grant writing and manage grant administration including grant reporting and budget tracking
Manage our Development Committee, working with staff and volunteers to plan fundraising events
Oversee donor database, ensuring accurate and complete donor records
Support the Executive Director with administrative tasks
Work with staff to recruit, organize and inspire volunteers for fundraising activities and facilitate fundraising across multiple volunteer-led teams
Demonstrated interest in social justice and commitment to the 350PDX mission
Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to plan effectively, meet deadlines, and coordinate others’ involvement within a dynamic and fast-paced setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of basic accounting principles
Strong computer skills including ability to learn new software and technology platforms quickly
Resourceful, flexible and self-motivated when presented with challenges to completing work duties
Positive, creative attitude; strong interpersonal skills and high level of professionalism
Ability to work quickly under pressure and meet defined timeliness
Comfortable making cold calls and soliciting financial support from potential donors
Culturally competent and responsive with an understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures and communities
Minimum 2 years of fundraising and development experience in the nonprofit sector or equivalent course/educational experience , with a strong track record managing fundraising activities to successfully meet targets and deadlines
Demonstrated dedication to managing growth and expansion of the organization’s long-term development activities
Genuine interest in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors
The following qualifications are a plus:
Proven success with donor cultivation
Proficiency in web content management, social media, e-marketing tools
Experience in grant writing and reporting procedures and requirements a plus
Familiarity with the local philanthropic community
