350PDX Seeks Board of Directors Applicants

Join us as we fight for climate justice and a sustainable future – right here in Portland.

350PDX believes the climate crisis and racial and economic injustices share the same root causes, and so we can only effectively address the climate crisis by building a diverse grassroots movement that fights for justice-based solutions. As such, 350PDX works alongside frontline communities to tackle the climate threat head-on.

To help guide our rapidly growing and evolving organization, we are currently seeking candidates with diverse lived-experiences and talents to join our Board of Directors.

About 350PDX
As a locally-based chapter of the national 350.org, 350PDX’s mission is to build a diverse grassroots movement to address the causes of climate disruption through justice-based solutions by inspiring, training and mobilizing people to act.

Founded in 2013 by a small group of passionate Portlanders, our mostly volunteer organization has grown to include hundreds of activists working in coordinated teams to promote climate justice, oppose fossil fuel exports in the Northwest, affect city and state climate legislation, and push for fossil fuel divestment at local and statewide levels. The organization also employs both full time and part time staff, including an Executive Director. Learn more about 350PDX and our work at http://350pdx.org.

Role and Responsibility
Board members meet together formally on a monthly basis to guide the organization’s ongoing development and ensure judicious use of the organization’s funds. As a ‘working’ Board, members are expected to roll up their sleeves and volunteer additional hours serving on committees or as board officers. While commitment is most important, we seek complementary skills on the board; priority needs currently are legal expertise, and fundraising experience or interest.

350PDX is committed to becoming a more inclusive, diverse, and justice-centered organization and we are looking to increase the diversity of our board. Young people, people of color, Native American and frontline community members are particularly encouraged to apply. We know our best work requires a multitude of voices at the table!

Process
If you are interested in being considered as a Board candidate, please fill out the application here. Applications will be reviewed beginning in mid-February and continuing until positions are filled. Our goal is to fill one or more positions by April.
